Sandia con Fuego

After a morning of gardening, forget a glass of water — a Sandia con Fuego is the most refreshing thing in the world.

Tequila Watermelon Lime

Sandia con Fuego was just the perfect drink after spending an entire day shopping for gardening tools and perennial flowers. I wish you could have tasted the freshness and sweetness of the watermelon, perfectly balanced with lime, and contrasted with the boldness of cayenne pepper.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup muddled watermelon, juice strained from pulp
  • 2 oz. blanco tequila
  • 1/2 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 1 bar spoon simple syrup
  • ice
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cayenne pepper

Preparation

Rub edges of tumbler with lime wedge to moisten. Rim glass in mixture of salt, sugar, and cayenne pepper.

Add strained watermelon juice, tequila, lime juice and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker. Add ice cubes and shake until chilled. Strain into rimmed glass over fresh ice.
