I first came to Hong Kong as a wide-eyed teenager, straining my neck to see the massive buildings that seem to abound on every corner of Hong Kong. I was also amazed at how green the city was, with over 80% of the total city area covered by government-run country parks. The city offers a great dichotomy of fast-paced city living set to the stunning backdrop of picturesque tropical jungles and coastal beaches.

ARTwear has reached its tenth year of executing a fun and creative way to raise money for The Art Gallery of Calgary’s art education programs. Fortunately, this event has surpassed its initial intent and in a small way become almost an ambassador for creative talent in Calgary. While raising money for art programs, this event, held at Hotel Arts, managed to expose our city’s dedicated art students and emerging artists from the Alberta College of Art and Design (ACAD) as well as local fashion designers and boutiques – it’s a win-win.
